The Bangladesh Cricket Board officials hinted on Saturday that the forthcoming one-match Test series against India may be deferred. Bangladesh were expected to complete their maiden tour to India in August but in all likelihood the tour may not take place during that time. According to sources, BCB was recently requested to sent their available time till next March by the Board of Cricket Control in India.
Chances are high that the series will be transferred in January 2017 despite BCCI utmost desired to host it as they are finding it difficult to fix a slot immediately.
‘Both the countries are trying hard to fix a possible date for the series after going through our other commitments,’ BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters on Saturday.
‘We all know how busy India team remains while we are also not free all the time. It can happen as per schedule while it can also be changed,’ he said.
BCB is expecting to finalise the date of the series during the forthcoming meeting of International Cricket Council from June 28.
According to BCB sources a tri-nation involving India, Bangladesh and New Zealand comprising seven one-day internationals was also on the card, scheduled from August 18.
But the recent development suggested that it may be shelved as well.
