The much-anticipated players’ draft for the fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League will be held today at a city hotel with teams set to complete their line-up from a host of local and foreign players.
A total of 204 foreign players and 140 local players will be up for grab for seven franchises, which have already picked up a certain number of local and foreign players outside the draft.
Pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman will be at the centre of attention in players’ draft being only A+ category local player with a price tag of Tk 45 lakh.
Mustafiz was initially picked up by Barisal Bulls but the BPL governing council scrapped the team from the tournament as it failed to provide the bank guarantee timely.
Franchises are also expected to make a quick pick from a host of senior players including left-arm spinners Abdur Razzak, Araft Sunny, batsmen Shahriar Nafees, Jahirul Islam.
According to draft list of players, Razzak is the only cricketer in A category, which has price tag of Tk 25 lakh.
Sunny, Shahriar, Jahirul, Abu Hider, Kamrul Islam, Abul Hasan, Al-Amin Hossain, Mukter Ali, Naeem Islam , Saqlain Sajib, Sohrwardi Shuvo, Shuvagoto Hom, Ziaur Rahman are among the 22 players in B category, which was valued at Tk 18 lakh.
Promising all-rounder Afif Hossain, wicketkeeper-batsman Irfan Shukkur, leg-spinner Jubair Hossain, veteran Junaed Siddique are among the players in Tk 12 lakh C category.
