Girls outshined boys in both pass rate and in achieving the highest Grade Point Average of 5 in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations across Bangladesh.
The result was published on Sunday.
This year, 96.49 per cent girls and 94.14 per cent boys passed the examinations in the combined result.
Of the girls, 1,02,406 achieved GPA 5 and a total of 86,763 boys secured the same grade point average.
Separately in all nine general boards, one madrassah and one technical education board, the girls did better than the boys in pass rate.
In cases of securing GPA 5, boys secured more GPA 5 than girls only in madrassah and technical boards.
The results of the HSC and equivalent examinations of 2021 were published on Sunday with a pass rate of 95.26 per cent and the number of students securing GPA 5 is 1,89,169.
The results were officially announced by the prime minister Sheikh Hasina virtually from the Ganabhaban.
Later, in a press briefing, the education minister presented the results at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital at about 12:00 noon.
A total of 13,06,718 examinees, out of 14,03,244, passed the examinations.
The 2020 HSC and equivalent examinees were given grade point average using the subject mapping method based on their results in the Secondary School Certificate, Junior School Certificate and equivalent examinations.
This year HSC and equivalent examinations were held between December 2, 2021 and December 30, 2021 across Bangladesh, after a gap of one year as the examinations were not held in 2020 due to the Covid outbreak.
