10th Mastercard Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair are set to begin on March 30, after span of three years due to Covid pandemic, aiming to promote the county’s tourism at home and abroad.
Civil Aviation and Tourism ministry’s secretary Md Mokammel Hossain is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day BTTF’s fair of March 30-31 and April 1, officially in a ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre, Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh, the organiser of the fair, told reporters at a press
conference held in a city hotel on Monday.
Organisers said that the fair would be attended by national travel agents, tourism authority, airlines, hotels, resorts, amusement parks, transport companies and several international tourism companies.
Organisers also said that Eastern Himalayan Travel and Tour Operators Association, and tour operators and travel agents from India, Maldives and Sri Lanka confirmed their participation in the fair.
Due to post-Covid situation, the participants of foreigners will be limited this year although the fair is going to hold after span of three years due to Covid pandemic, said the TOAB.
It said that the fair would remain open for visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day offering trips at home and abroad at a discounted rate.
Besides, cultural programmes would be held every day and the state-own Bangladesh Tourism Board would offer a Mujib’s night for guests at the closing ceremony on April 1.
Entry fee for each visitor has been fixed at Tk 30 while students can visit the fair free showing their identity cards.
The fair was scheduled to be held in February 3-5 but it was suspended due to Covid-19 outbreak.
TOAB president Md Rafeuzzaman chaired the press conference, which was attended, among others, by Bangladesh Tourism Board’s chief executive officer Jabed Ahmed, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s director MGR Nasir Majumder, Mastercard’s country manager Syed Mohammad Kamal,
Tourism Resort Industries Association of Bangladesh chair Khabir Uddin Ahmed and Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh SN Manzur Murshed Mahbub.
