The Bangladesh Railway is scheduled to sell advance tickets from different spots in Bangladesh capital Dhaka from April 23 ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The advance tickets for return journeys are scheduled to be sold from May 1.
Half of the advance tickets will be available online and another half will be available in ticket counters. An inter-ministerial meeting organised by the railways ministry in this regard was held at the Rail Bhaban.
The railways minister Nurul Islam Sujan is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce the details of railway’s Eid services.
A senior official of the ministry, seeking anonymity, told New Age that on April 23, advance tickets would be sold for train journeys on April 27, while on April 24 for April 28, on April 25 for April 29, on April 26 for April 30 and on April 27 for May 1.
The dates were decided following assumption of the Eid day on May 2 and, if the Ramadan month continues for Ramadan 30, advance tickets for journey on May 2 will be sold on April 28.
As for advance return tickets, on May 1, advance tickets would be sold for train journeys on May 5, while on May 2 for May 6, on May 3 for May 7, on May 4 for May 8 and on May 5 for May 9.
