Bangladesh archers won one silver and two bronze medals at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey on Wednesday.
Bangladesh compound women’s team of Roksana Akter, Shamoli Ray and Puspita Zaman had to remain content with a silver medal as they lost to the Turkey team comprised of Bostan Ucar Yesim, Suzer Ayse Bera, and Yildir Sevim in the final by 222–229 points.
Recurve women’s team of Diya Siddique, Nasrin Akter and Beauty Ray clinched bronze after a 6-2 set points win against Uzbekistan’s Abdusattorova Ziyodakhon, Abdusattorova Zebiniso and Hamroeva Nilufar in the bronze medal decider of this event.
Turkey recurve women’s team comprised of Anagoz Yasemin Ecem, Coskun Gulnaz Busranur and Er Asli won gold with a 6-0 set points win in the final against the Indonesian team of Arista Pande Putu Gina Putri, Haenza Asiefa Nur and Octavia Rezza.
Recurve men’s team, comprised of Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Sagor Islam, bagged another bronze medal for Bangladesh as they defeated Saudi Arabia’s Almusa Abdulrahman, Alsubaie Rashed and Alwi Mansour by 6-0 set points in the bronze medal decider of this event.
Turkey recurve men’s team of AK Samet, Gazoz Mete and Yildirmis Abdullah clinched gold medal, defeating Indonesia’s Pangestu Arif Dwi, Prastyadi Alviyanto Bagas and Salsabilla Riau Ega Agata by 6-2 set points in the final.
Bangladesh compound men’s team comprised of Ashikuzzaman, Mithu Rahman and Sohel Rana were eliminated from the quarter-final as they lost to Malaysia’s Fo Soon Loh Eugenius, Ghazalli Alang Ariff Aqil and Mazuki Mohd Juwaidi by 25–29 points in the tie-breaker after scoring identical 227–227 points in quota shoots off.
Bangladesh recurve mixed team of Diya and Rubel lost to Uzbek pair of Abdusattorova Ziyodakhon and Sadikov Amirkhon by 2-6 set points to finish their journey in the quarter-finals.
Bangladesh’s compound mixed team of Roksana and Ashikuzzaman also finished their season in the quarter-finals as they conceded a 148-151 point defeat to Malaysian pair of Halim Nur Aina Yasmine and Mazuki Mohd Juwaidi.
