Two Bangladeshi mountaineers Salehin Arshady and Imran Khan plan to attempt a series of peaks in the western part of the great Himalayas.
Titled GoZayaan Expedition Ladakh, five high mountain peaks are to be climbed, including Kang Yatse II (6250m), Dzo Zongo (6250m), Dzo Zongo East (6200m), Regioni Mallai Ri-I (6080m) and Regioni Mallai Ri- II (6000 m) in just fifteen days, according to a related press release.
If they could achieve this, it would set a new national record in mountaineering, pushing the boundaries of mountaineering in Bangladesh and redefining new possibilities in the field.
The expedition takes place in Ladakh, North India, also known as Little Tibet. The team will leave Dhaka on September 4, 2022 and arrive in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, the following day. The trek to the base camp starts two days later after acclimatization in Leh.
The main goal of this expedition is to inspire and motivate youth in Bangladesh to lead an active lifestyle and to facilitate their entry into outdoor sports such as mountaineering.
The mountaineering-based adventure group Audree organizes the “GoZayaan Expedition Ladakh.” Audree also works with neighborhood communities to help preserve and conserve the environment. Audree is working to improve education and healthcare for underprivileged communities of Chittagong Hill Tracts, which also organise guided high-altitude treks and expeditions for aspiring individuals.
Gozayaan, the travel tech company, is sponsoring the expedition to inspire the youth to go beyond boundaries. Media partner of the expedition is The Daily Star. Travelers of Bangladesh, The Quest and Bio Areca Ltd are also partners in the expedition.
