Bangladesh Mathematical Society has been organising Mathematics Olympiad since 2009 in order to create interest in mathematics, remove the fear of mathematics, and above all to popularise mathematics, said a press release.
Bangladesh Mathematical Society organised 13th Mathematical Olympiad in eight regions of the country namely Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet region on November 25, while in Barisal and Khulna region on December 2.
College and university students are invited to contact the respective regional centres. It should be noted that the Bangladesh Mathematical Society established in 1972 is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion, expansion and excellence of mathematics in the country.
The final round of the Olympiad will be held on December 23 with the best 10 participants from each region and a total of 80 contestants at the Mathematics Department of Dhaka University at AF Mujibur Rahman Mathematics Building.
The best 10 contestants of the final phase will be given cash prizes by Mujibur Rahman Foundation and Bangladesh Mathematical Society in addition to certificates and crests.
