The 65-day ban on all types of fishing in the country’s marine waters has been lifted as ban ended at 12:00midnight on Sunday.
Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Iftekhar Hossain confirmed this to media.
The government had imposed ban on all types of fishing in the country’s marine waters for 65 days from May 20, which ended at 12:00midnight on Sunday.
Iftekhan Hossain said that like last year, this year also from May 20 to July 23, fishing of any species by all types of fishing vessels was prohibited in the marine waters of Bangladesh for 65 days.
The purpose of the fishing ban for a certain period is to increase the fish resources by ensuring uninterrupted reproduction during the main breeding season of marine fish.
During this time, all commercial fishing trawlers were barred from going to sea.
