Marking the golden jubilee of one of the prolific theatre troupes of the country, Dhaka Theater will celebrate its 50 years on July 29.
Established in 1973 by freedom fighter and noted cultural personality Nasir Uddin Yusuff, along with some brave freedom fighters, the troupe earned acclaim in both nationally and internationally at the same time.
To celebrate the group’s founding anniversary, a year-long festival has been arranged. The festival will kick off on July 28, at the Experimental Theatre Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) at 5 pm.
The celebration will be graced by noted cultural personalities including the likes of – Ramendu Majumdar, Ferdousi Mazumder, Mamunur Rashid, M Hamid and Syed Salauddin Zaki.
Besides that, an art exhibition on Orientalism and Dualism will be opened from 5:30pm and the play “Prachyo” will be staged at 7 pm.
