An intern physician of a private medical college was killed yesterday after her car collided with a roadside tree at Gourandi on Dhaka-Barishal highway.
Gournadi Highway Police Sub Inspector Mamun said the accident took place at 7:00am yesterday.
According to the SI, Iqra Binte Hafiz (27), an intern physician of Medical College for Women and Hospital at Uttara, Dhaka, was coming from Dhaka to Barisal Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital with a rented private car. On the way, the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree at Kataksthol in Gouranadi, leaving her seriously injured.
Rescued from the spot, she was admitted to the Gournadi Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
The car driver Nahid was injured and is admitted to the same hospital.
Iqra bint Hafizz lived in the housing area of Cumilla city.
