East West University hosted an orientation ceremony to welcome its new students for the winter semester of 2024.
The event took place on Thursday at the university’s campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka.
This semester, over 2,700 students were welcomed across 13 departments through separate ceremonies for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a significant majority being female students.
The orientation aimed to familiarize newcomers with the university’s rules, academic activities, and available facilities.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included the university’s chief adviser and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Professor Dr Mohammad Farashuddin, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shams Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Ashik Mosaddik, and Treasurer Air Commodore (Retd) Ishfaq Elahi Chowdhury, all of whom addressed the new students.
Speakers emphasized the importance of developing into confident citizens and encouraged students to engage actively in various clubs, laboratories, and the library, in addition to maintaining diligence in their studies.
They highlighted the importance of preparing themselves as skilled human resources.
The event saw participation from the university’s registrar, faculty members, staff, and a large number of students, marking a vibrant start to the new academic semester. – Press release
