Google Pay is set to make its debut in Bangladesh by the middle of next week, ushering in a new era of hassle-free digital transactions for users.
In partnership with global payment giants Mastercard and Visa, City Bank will roll out the contactless payment service at the Westin Dhaka hotel on June 24, according to sources close to the project.
City Bank will be the first local bank to team up with Google Pay, allowing its customers to use their Android smartphones for payments at any point-of-sale (POS) terminal.
Initially, only City Bank customers will have the ability to link their Mastercard or Visa cards to Google Wallet for the Google Pay service.
Support for cards from other banks is expected to come in future updates.
Whether you’re in Bangladesh or traveling abroad, users can enjoy quick, secure, and contactless transactions just by tapping their Android smartphones.
This service will allow eligible cardholders to make swift contactless payments in retail settings and conduct safe online transactions both locally and internationally.
Thanks to Google’s cutting-edge encryption and tokenization technologies, Google Wallet ensures robust data security and a highly secure payment experience.
For smaller purchases, the option for PIN-free checkout will help speed things up, as noted by an industry expert.
To get started, users will need an Android smartphone, download the Google Pay app, and add a City Bank card.
