Songs of four masters in one album
A Bloom in Vain and Other Songs (Koto Chameli Britha Jay) is an exquisite album consisting eight timeless songs of four masters Rabindranath Tagore, Atul Prasad Sen, Rajani Kanta Sen and Dwijendralal Roy.
Expatriate Bangladeshi singer Dia Chakravarty has lent her melodic voice to make a gift to the Bangladeshi audience. The album, produced by Laser Vision, was launched on Friday at Sufia Kamal Auditorium at National Museum.
The album contains songs like Atul Prasad’s Nid Nahi Akhipate and Tumi Kobe Asibe Mor Anginay, Rajanikanta’s Ami Sokal Kajer Pai He Somoy and Kotobhabe Birajichho, Tagore’s Sakhi Bhabana Kahare Bole and Tomar Kotha Keho To Bolena, and Dwijendralal Ray’s Shey Keno Dekha Dilore and Ami Sara Sokalti Bose Bose.
At the launching programme, emeritus professor Anisuzzaman, professor-writer Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Cultural Affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor and many other noted personalities congratulated Dia.
Dia rendered some of the songs at the album launch programme, which left a mark of marvel in the audience.
Dia Chakravarty, who has been living in London for the last 14 years, took her first music lesson from Prateek Enda in Sylhet. Dia now takes lessons from London-based singer-master Anuradha Roma Chowdhury.
‘Music is my passion and runs through my blood. I love to sing Bangla songs of almost every genre’, Dia told New Age.
‘This album, I hope, will be worth collecting for music lovers of the country’, said Mazharul Islam, managing director of Laser Vision.
