Rallies and human chains formed by different organizations marking the international human rights day on Saturday in front of the Jatiya Press club virtually turned the street in front of the club into a public meeting ground. As many as three to four rows were formed in front of the club.
The use of the street in front of the press club for such rallies and human chains every day, once again points out the need for a designated place for holding such programmes in the capital city.
Besides, the use of the club front presents everyone a convenient opportunity for easy coverage by the media, said reporters and lens-men.
At least half a dozen organizations gathered in front of the press club to hold their rallies, however, there was no clash over the use of the small space.
Among others, Bangladesh Manobadhikar Samonnoy Parishad (BMSP), Bangladesh Muktijuddho Projonmo, Sushaner Jonnyo Pracharavijan, different affiliates of the BNP, Garments Sramik Federation and Griho Sramik Adhikar Pratishtha Network took part in the programmes.
