Abahani Limited will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Power Company of Taiwan in their second match of the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers
at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu today.
The sky-blue outfit began their campaign on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw against Three Star Club of Nepal, who play Archim FC of Mongolia at the same venue in the day’s second match.
Abahani’s Iranian coach Ardeshir Pournemat was optimistic of qualifying for the next round as he thinks his team have a great chance since all the three teams are on one point after the end of the first round.
‘It is good that we all have one point each and all of the them have equal chance of going through to the final round,’ said Ardeshir at the pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
‘It is an important match for us against Power Company and we have to win it,’ he added.
He was also confident that his team will advance to the final round by beating Power Company.
`We have physically well-built players and that can be one aspect of winning the match. I believe that Abahani and Three Star Club will move into the final round,’ Ardeshir said.
On the other hand, the defending champions Taiwan Power Company were also aiming to win against Abahani.
Chen Jen, the coach of Power Company, is fully aware about Abahani’s strength.
`We are aware about the strength of all our opponents, they play physical games and they are taller and muscular than us but we have made plans for that, we will play quick, fluent and passing game,’ said the Taiwan Power Company’s coach.
The match will start at 3:15pm (Bangladesh time) at the Dasharath Stadium.
