The two-day-long resilience festival organised by ActionAid Bangladesh at Gulshan in Dhaka concluded on Friday. The event, titled Festival of Resilience: People, Planet and Possibilities, began on Thursday.
‘Through this two-day event, we’ve promoted the diversity of the country’s culture, attempted to learn the grassroots’ resilience mechanisms, explored opportunities for potential partnerships and highlight the work of the organisation
for building resilience to increase awareness,’ said ActionAid Bangladesh country director Farah Kabir.
Journalist Afsan Chowdhury said, ‘It is rare to find such events where a dynamic panel of experienced people came together to share their views on where Bangladesh stands today and where are we heading as a nation. Such practices can enlighten us on how a nation was formed in 1971, with the combined effort of a diverse group of people. The more we learn about how the foundation of our nation was laid in 1971, the better we can progress.’
The events included live story-telling sessions, a photo exhibition and cultural programmes among others.
Norwegian ambassador in Dhaka Espen Rikter-Svendsen and first secretary for environment and climate change of the Sweden embassy in Dhaka Nayoka Martinez-Backstrom were present as special guests.
