Macth-Fixing In Bangladesh Football
AFC extends Miraj ban
The Asian Football Confederation on Friday has extended the suspension of Mohidur Rahman Miraj, joint secretary of Wari Club, at confederation level for his part in the match-fixing scandal of second tier Bangladesh Championship League. The disciplinary committee of the AFC took the decision at a meeting held in AFC headquarters in Malaysia. The Bangladesh Football Federation had earlier banned Miraj for one-year upto August 2015. It barred him from entering any stadium for the duration of the ban.
The AFC ban means he will be barred from all football-related activities including, all types of matches – domestic and international, friendly and official fixtures.
The ban was imposed after a BFF inquiry found that the match between Wari and Farashganj was rigged.
Farashganj were deducted nine league points and Wari six, while a number of players were handed bans for different terms.
AFC took the matter under their concern after watching in the local media that Miraj violated the decision and entered to the stadium illegally.
Miraj recently defied his ban to be involved in the activities of pioneer football and allegedly received his backing from deputy minister for youth and sports Arif
Khan, who is also the vice-president of BFF.
