An Army man died on early Friday after being drugged by suspected members of a city gang known as ‘Oggyan Party’, who offer food or drink laced with drugs to victims before robbing their valuables. The deceased was identified as Tajul Islam, 35, a corporal, based in Comilla Cantonment. Police said Tajul was found lying under Khilkhet Flyover in an unconscious state at around 11:30 pm on Thursday. A soldier rushed him to the Combined Medical Hospital (CMH), Dhaka where the on-duty doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Quoting relatives of the deceased, Shamim Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khilkhet Police Station, said Tajul came to Dhaka on a departmental business at Transit Camp of Dhaka Cantonment. He went out of the camp in the evening and later was found under the flyover, the OC said.
The OC also said the Army officer was fed poisonous materials with food items and an injury mark was found in his left leg. Md Sumon, brother of the deceased Army man, filed a case in this connection.
Tajul, son of Shahed Ali of Nababganj upazila in Dinajpur district, left his wife and two daughters.
Sub-inspector (SI) Benjir Ahmed of Cantonment Police Station said they were waiting for the autopsy report to be sure of whether Tajul was doped to death or murdered in a planned way.
“After conducting an autopsy at Dhaka Medical College Morgue, the body was handed over to Tajul’s family”, said the SI.

The DMCH sources said more than 150 were admitted to DMCH in the last two months after loosing the valuables in their possessions.
