Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the present government does not believe in the politics of vendetta, else the BNP leaders would be in jail for their corruption and misdeeds.
“We deploy all our energy in the development of the country and we were voted for that purpose,” said the Awami League President while addressing a simple function, marking the founding anniversary of the Swechchhasebak League, at her official residence Ganabhaban on Monday. She asked the leaders and activists of Swechchhasebak League to inform the mass people about the development activities of the government and give befitting reply to the opposition propaganda.
“You’ve to inform the people about the development activities of the government while at your village homes during the Eid vacation. Apart from this, you’ve to give a proper reply to the opposition propaganda against the Awami League,” she said.
About the recent observation of the BNP chairperson that she would run the country on a new method if voted to power, Hasina said: “That means the BNP leader want to do corruption in a new way.”
She added: “This time she won’t be able to hire the ‘Hawa Bhaban’. This time she’ll construct a new bhaban and start doing corruption with a new formula.”
Rejecting the BNP’s demand for restoring the caretaker government, the Prime Minister said she does not understand why the BNP leaders are demanding caretaker government after experiencing oppression and torture under the immediate past caretaker government.
“The nation still remember the oppression and torture by the army-backed caretaker government when BNP chairperson was not spared from their oppression, they also arrested the BNP chairperson.”
She said the BNP leaders in the talk shows on various TV channels are demanding the caretaker government. “But they’ve to remember that if the caretaker government comes to power again, they won’t spare the BNP leaders as the information on their corruption are still there.”
Criticizing the former advisers of the immediate past caretaker government, she said there are people who were advisers to the caretaker government, but they failed to hold a simple election.
The Prime Minister mentioned that these advisers are now very active in the talk shows and often they offer various formulas for the caretaker government. “I wonder how they could offer their formulas when they failed abjectly to hold the election while they were in power,” she said.
In this regard, Hasina said that during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government, the Awami League launched movement to clean up the 1.23 crore fake voters from the voter list.
Referring to various development activities of the present government for the overall development of the country, she said the prices of essentials are stable during this holy month of Ramadan.
Hasina requested the Swechchhasebak League leaders and activists to convey her Eid greetings to the people in their respective areas.
