Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said a survey is on at her own initiative to find out the fittest candidates to contest the next general election with Awami League tickets.
“This survey is being conducted by me, not by the intelligence agencies,” she said in her opening speech at an extended meeting of Awami League central committee at her official residence Ganobhaban. Hasina mentioned that currently she has got information from three divisions in this regard while more in the pipeline from four other divisions. “I’ve already seen half of one division’s report and taking notes,” she added.
The Prime Minister said the reason behind this survey is to judge the acceptability of the party leaders in their own areas. “Such survey helps figure out the leaders’ present condition in their respective areas and thus nominate them as our candidates for the next election.”
Hasina also said that she herself will look after this matter and compare this survey report with other reports coming from intelligence agencies.
The Awami League President, however, reminded the party leaders and activists looking for its tickets for the next election that the nomination will be given after overall review of their personal profiles.
