Alleged killer Russell sent to jail
Russell Mia alias Russell Matubbar, the alleged killer of his girlfriend Saoda Aktar Mallik, was sent to jail after he gave confessional statement before the court on Saturday.
Shakhawat Hossain, investigation officer of the Saoda murder case, and in charge of the Kotwali
police station, said they produced him before the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court here at noon and the court ordered to send him to Barisal Central Jail as he gave confessional statement under section 164 of penal code.
Magistrate Zahidul Kabir recorded his statement.
Russell, a student of management department at Barisal University, stabbed her girlfriend to death on September 5 after the girl’s family had refused to give her in marriage to him.
Saoda was also a student of accounting department at Barisal University.
Russell was arrested from Chittagong on Thursday and brought to Barisal on Friday.
