Former national team all-rounder Alok Kapali mesmerised Chittagong with a marvelous double ton for Islami Bank East Zone against BCB North Zone of their Bangladesh Premier League match on Friday. East Zone finished their first innings for 473 before North Zone ended the second day on 63 for the loss of opener Farhad Reza who was out for a duck. Alok, the stylish right handed batsman who is also the stand-in captain for his side, smashed 17 boundaries and seven sixes before got out for 228 runs facing 382 balls in 529-minute long innings.
Resuming on 250-4, Alok and Asif Ahmed added 93 more runs to make a partnership of 191 runs that was broken when Asif was dismissed for a well-made 103 runs.
Asif scored nine boundaries and two sixes in his 167-ball knock.
Naeem Islam, Sanjamul Islam and Mahmudul Hasan picked up two wickets each while Muktar Ali, Farhad Reza, Nasir Hossain and Saqlain Sajib got one wicket apiece for North Zone.
In the other match at Fatullah, Prime Bank South Zone are giving a solid reply to 413 runs of Walton Central Zone as they finished the day on 125 without losing any wicket.
Two openers, Shahriar Nafees and Anamul Haque, will resume on the third day with the score of 59 and 66 respectively.
Resuming on 248-7 Walton added 165 runs with the last three wicket thanks to a brilliant 89-run innings of skipper Mosharraf Hossain and 58 not out of Elias Sunny.
The duo added 137 runs for the ninth wicket partnership.
Mushtafizur Rahman and Abdur Razzak picked up three wickets each for South Zone while Sohag Gazi and Mosaddedk Hossain got one wicket apiece.
