Fide Master Aminul Islam led the points table securing 5 points in five games in the Prime Bank 16th International Rating Chess Tournament at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room on Saturday.
Meanwhile, four players were placed second jointly earning 4.5 points each. They are: GM Abdullah Al-Rakib, FM Mehdi Hasan, Mohammad Javed and Mahtabuddin Ahmed.
In the day’s play, Aminul beat IM Abu Sufian Shakil, Robin defeated IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar, Rakib routed Abdul Momin, Parag outplayed FM Rezaul Haque and Javed trounced Sirajul Islam.
Some 138 players from Bangladesh, France and the USA are taking part in the event. The event is being held in Swiss-League system. Champions of the tournament will be awarded cash prize money of Tk 1 lakh.
