Andrew Kishore is a famous name in the arena of playback singing in Bangladesh. He has lent his voice to numerous songs in movies. His songs including Hayre manush rongin phanush, Amar shara deho kheyo o go mati, Jiboner golpo achhey baki olpo, Amar buker, Porena chokher polok and others are still popular.
He is a recipient of seven National Film Awards in the best playback singer category. He considers the success as the result of his dedication and honesty for music.
‘When I got my first national award, I was too young and didn’t realise the importance of the award, but, now, walking down memory lane it makes me happy. But at the same time the award brings a lots of responsibilities towards work,’ told Andrew in an interview with New Age.
However, Andrew is singing irregularly nowadays. Addressing the issue, he says, it’s been a while; I am becoming old; now I should make space for the emerging artistes. Moreover, I am busy with an organisation which works to protect the rights of singers, composers and lyricists.
Talking about the current music scenario, he says, ‘Today’s singers have more opportunities to become famous in short span of time which was missing in our time. But few emerging young souls are really talented and changes are coming gradually.’
‘The reality shows in the TV channels are giving good opportunities for the emerging singers to prove their talent. The shows have revived old songs among youngsters and these songs gained immense popularity again which I really appreciate,’ added Andrew.
Andrew owns a production house Probaho media which produces TV plays, commercials and other productions. ‘I always had a dream to make commercials and I worked hard for years to establish Probaho as well as to fulfill my dream.’ said Andrew.
However, the veteran singer describes himself as a person for whom music is the ultimate passion and he wants to stay in the hearts of music lovers forever through his works.
