The 11th convocation of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology was held at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital on Monday.
Education minister Dipu Moni presided over the ceremony on behalf of president Mohammed Shahabuddin and chancellor of AUST, while University Grants Commission member Professor Dr Muhammad Alamgir was present as chief guest.
A total of 2,238 students in different disciplines were awarded graduation degrees, among them, three students were awarded Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Padak in recognition of exceptional academic achievements, according to a press release.
Education minister Dipu Moni congratulating the new graduates, said, ‘I am optimistic that the youngsters who are graduating today will make an effort to fulfil their obligations to their families, society, country, and the world at large in addition to establishing their own lives.’
University Grants Commission member Professor Dr Muhammad Alamgir extended best wishes to the graduating students and applauded the university authorities for their ongoing efforts to raise the standard of education.
AUST vice-chancellor Professor Dr Fazli Ilahi said that the goal of the university had been to develop graduates who could handle domestic and international issues.
‘I hope these new graduates will dedicate themselves to all-out improvements for our country and humanity,’ he added.
Bangladesh Accreditation Council chairman Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed said, ‘I hope the graduates of AUST will overcome every challenge of life through honesty, tolerance, perseverance and kindness, and take part in building our country as a developed nation.’
AUST board of trustees chairman Kazi Rafiqul Alam said, ‘It is my firm belief that those who are graduating today will make a significant contribution to the overall prosperity of the country and the nation.’
Professor Dr Abu Tweb Abu Ahmed, vice-chairman, board of trustees, members of the board of trustees, treasurer, AUST, deans of the faculties, AUST, heads of all disciplines, distinguished vice-chancellors of other universities, members of the AUST syndicate, academic council, finance and development committee, teachers and officers, parents and guardians of the students were present at the event.
