Pop guru and freedom fighter Azam Khan has been on life support at the city’s Square Hospital since yesterday morning.
Dr Kamruzzaman Chowdhury of the hospital told reporters that Azam’s condition is very critical as his lungs were not functioning.
He said that since Azam returned home from Singapore without taking full course of radio therapy, his oral cancer spread to other parts of the body. Several tumours were detected in his different organs including his lungs.
Ima Khan, daughter of Azam, said, “We were making preparation to get him to Singapore again but over the last few days his condition deteriorated. He was admitted to the hospital on May 22 with severe hand and shoulder pain.”
Sixty-two-year-old pop legend Azam Khan went to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore in mid-July last year for better treatment.
