Bangladesh has climbed four notches up in the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, ranking 93rd out of 99.
However, the number of visa-free destinations for Bangladeshi passport holders has dropped from 42 in 2024 to 39 this year, reflecting a decline in global travel privileges.
Despite this improvement in rank — up from 97th place last year — Bangladesh’s passport remains one of the weakest in the world. Nepal and Pakistan followed closely, ranking 94th and 96th, respectively.
Singapore secured the top spot, with its passport holders able to travel visa-free to 193 destinations. Japan and South Korea followed, with 190 visa-free destinations, while several European nations, including Germany, France, and Spain, ranked third, allowing access to 189 destinations.
At the other end, Afghanistan remains the lowest-ranked passport, offering its citizens visa-free access to just 25 countries.
Among South Asian nations, Maldives has the strongest passport with 52nd position and visa-free access to 93 countries. India ranked 80th with 56 destinations, followed by Bhutan, 83rd position and 51 free access destinations, Myanmar, 88th place and 45 free-visa access destinations, and Sri Lanka ranked 91st with 42 destinations.
Nepal and Pakistan remain among the lowest-ranked, with visa-free access to 38 and 32 destinations, respectively.
The Henley Passport Index, compiled by UK-based Henley & Partners, uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without a prior visa, covering 227 travel destinations worldwide.
