Bangladesh could face Malaysia in opener
Bangladesh Football Federation has all but finalized the fixture of the Bangabandhu Cup football tournament, despite holding a formal draw, said an official on Tuesday.
Bangladesh are set to play alongside Malaysia and Sri Lanka in group stage with Singapore, Thailand and Bahrain Under-23 team lining up in the other group.If everything goes according to plan, Bangladesh will play Malaysia in the opening match on January 29.
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said the groups and fixture will be formally disclosed on January 15 when the long of the tournament will also be unveiled.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit is expected to unveil the logo of the six-nation tournament.
According to the draft fixture, five matches of the tournament including the February 8 final will be held in Dhaka while Sylhet will host four matches.
BFF said Bahrain Under-23 team will arrive at Dhaka two days after the tournament starts after playing Under-23 Gulf Cup at home.
