Bangladesh face Afghans today
Bangladesh will begin their campaign of the third SAFF Women’s Football Championship against Afghanistan at the Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan today.
The two teams have been drawn in Group A alongside India and the Maldives. ‘My team will try their best to pick up a good result in the first match,’ said Bangladesh’s Japanese coach Tshukhi Tate Norio Norio at the pre-match press conference.
Golam Rabbani Choton, the assistant coach of the team added: ‘We will take the field to win the match and all our players are physically fit to give their full effort.’ Captain Suinu-Pru-Marma, however, was somewhat cautious saying that she believes it will be really hard for them to win against a stronger Afghan team.
‘To win against Afghanistan, we will have to play really well as they have some immigrant players in their team,’ said Suinu. The match will start at 3:30pm Bangladesh Standard Time and will be telecast live in PTV.
