Bangladesh slipped eleven places further to be ranked 181st in the latest FIFA standings published on Thursday. This is the second worst ever ranking for Bangladesh after their 183rd position in 2008 since the FIFA World rankings were introduced in 1992. After not much action except their 2-2 draw against India in an international friendly in March in Goa this year, Bangladesh have fallen in the rankings as they were 170th in the previous rankings.
Reigning SAFF champions Afghanistan remained top among the South Asian countries as they were placed 135th while the Maldives are second in 145th.
India and Pakistan also slipped eight and eleven places to be ranked 158th and 175th in the standings.
Sri Lanka also moved ahead of Bangladesh in 176th place while Nepal were 183rd.
