The Bangladesh national football team will play a FIFA international friendly today against Maldives at Male as a part of preparation for their Asian Cup Qualifiers play-off against Bhutan.
Bangladesh will play against Bhutan on September 6 and October 10 respectively at home and away in pursuit of getting an Asian Cup qualification spot.Today’s match will kickoff at 10:00pm Bangladesh Standard Time.
Bangladesh’s Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet was supposed to fly to Male from Belgium after spending time with his new-born for his first assignment since he took their charge of the team on July 22.
The South Asian rivals played 11 times against each with both winning three times each. The other five ended in draws.
However, the Islanders became victorious in their last two encounters, in 2015 at Delhi and in 2011 at SAFF Championship in Kerala.
Both the matches ended with an identical score of 3-1.
The hosts, like the visitors also take the match as part of their preparation as they will take on Laos in Asian Cup qualifiers on the same day.
