Bangladesh national football team will play two FIFA friendly matches against their Sri Lankan counterparts in Rajshahi and Jessore in the last week of October, Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin said on Saturday. After arranging a FIFA second-tier international friendly match between Bangladesh Under-23 team and Nepal Under-23 team in Sylhet earlier this month, the BFF has decided to give Rajshahi and Jessore the opportunity to host the friendly matches with a view to spreading football across the country.
‘To spread football across the country, we are going to host the Sri Lanka national team in Rajshahi and Jessore in the last week of October,’ said Salahuddin.
‘We approached the Sri Lankan Football Federation earlier this month for the friendly games and now they gave their positive response,’ he added.
The BFF is also working to improve the facilities of the two venues, which have never hosted any international football matches in the past.
After watching the pitch invasion in the recent FIFA friendly in Sylhet, the BFF is now hoping that the two matches in the district towns will also get a similar response from the crowd.
‘We are trying to improve the facilities of both the grounds to host the matches successfully,’ said an optimistic Salahuddin.
