The Bangladesh Under-19 team moved 2-1 up after registering a last-ball one-wicket win over their Sri Lankan counterparts in the third youth one-day international
of the five-match series at Mirpur on Friday.
Chasing the Sri Lanka Under-19 team’s 277-8 in 50 overs, the young Tigers levelled the scores in the penultimate ball of their innings before number 11 batsman Mustafizur Rahman struck a boundary in the last ball as the hosts finished on 281-9 in their allotted 50 overs.
Skipper Mosaddek Hossain led the way for the hosts with a fine 98 from 119 balls with the aid of 10 fours. Joyraj Sheik Emon (74 off 95 balls) hit six fours and two sixes to provide an able support as the duo added 126 runs for the fourth wicket.
Ramesh Mendis (3-39) was the most successful bowler for the visitors.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan Under-19 team, electing to bat first after winning the toss, posted 277-8 largely due to the efforts of Sadeera Samarawickrama (83 from 101 balls) and Sandun Weerakkody (65 off 61 balls).
Meanwhile, leg-spinner Jubair Hossain (3-60) continued his great form with the leather as the two teams will now prepare themselves for the fourth and penultimate one-dayer at the same venue today.
