A Bangladeshi cattle trader, who was critically injured in a grenade attack by BSF men along Agrobhulat border in Benapole of Jessore early Sunday, succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
The dead was Tauhidul Islam Shikder, 23, of Goga village nder Sharsha upazila of Jessore.
Lt Col Tayef-ul-Haque, commanding officer of 23 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion, said the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) of Jhaudanga camp hurled a hand grenade at Tauhidul while he was returning home along with some cattle from India through the border at about 5:30am.
Tauhidul was badly wounded in the attack. Locals took him to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he died in the evening, the BGB official added.
Tension was running high on the frontier following the killing, locals said.
