A Bangladeshi peacekeeper was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Darfur region of Sudan yesterday morning. Md Ajgar Ali, 40, was killed when a bullet went through his neck in gunfire in front of a UN structure in Darfur. The gunfire also left two others injured.
He was serving at Otash Community Police Camp in Darfur.
Kamrul Ahsan, public relations officer of police headquarters in Dhaka, confirmed the incident.
Ajgar, hailing from Sathiya upazila of Pabna, landed in Sudan for United Nations peacekeeping mission on July 8 this year. He joined Bangladesh Police in 1996.
