Popular singer and composer Bappa Majumder is now working on a four-disk album titled Best of Bappa featuring 24 popular numbers from his previously released albums.
Each of the four discs of the Best of Bappa series will feature eight tracks — six popular numbers, one new number and an instrumental.
The singer hopes to release the first one of the four discs in the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
‘The remaining albums will also be released soon,’ Bappa Majumdar said, adding that the listeners would get new flavours of the old numbers.
‘I have been working on the four discs for the past few months. I’ve reorganised the music of the old hit numbers and also have produced new numbers’, added Bappa.
Bappa further said he had also recorded a solo and a duet numbers. ‘I’ve recorded a duet with Fahmida Nabi in her solo album Ichchhe Hoy, which will be released during Eid. I’ve also sung a song composed by Prince Mahmud in his mixed album project titled Nimantran, which will also be released during Eid,’ Bappa told New Age.
Bappa, who has strong background in classical music, has composed all the songs of Ustad Niaz Muhammad Chowdhury’s self titled album, which will also be released in the upcoming Eid.
In fact, Bappa Majumder has been composing fusion music with different genres of music such as traditional and Tagpre’s songs these days. Renowned folk singer Mumtaz Begum MP has lent voice in a song composed by Bappa titled Na jani kon aparadhe, playback of Hasibur Reza Kallol’s upcoming film Sattwa.
‘Fusion is a challenging job. Quality of fusion depends on the sound synthesis of the musicians. And I love to take the challenge,’ Bappa said.
Bappa will also perform in different recorded and live music programmes to be aired in different TV and radio channels including Channel-i, RTV, Boishakhi Television, Channel 9 and Radio Swadhin during Eid.
Bappa Majumder, son of the late classical music exponent Bareen Majumder, emerged as a singer through his solo album Takhan Bhor Bela released in 1995.
In 1996, Bappa along with the late singer-lyricist Sanjib Chowdhury formed a band named Dalchhut, which got tremendous popularity by producing romantic soft rock and blues numbers.
The band leader Bappa Majumder writes, composes and sings songs for the band.
