During the opening day of the four fourth round matches of the National Cricket league three teams got all-out in their first innings of respective matches at different venues on Saturday.
Despite the batsmen struggled in all four matches on the first day, only one bowler, Iftekhar Sazzad of Chittagong, got five-wicket haul to help dismiss Rajshahi for 208 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
The 28-year old off-spinner picked 5-63 before his side finished the day on 43-0, trailing by 165 runs with all the first innings wickets intact.
In the other Tier-2 match at Bogra, Sylhet ended the day on 45-1 after Barisal were all-out for 155 runs thanks to a four-for of Nasum Ahmed.
Khulna could score only 117 runs against Dhaka at Fatullah before Dhaka scored 77-3 at the stumps. Masum Khan got four wickets for Dhaka.
In the other match of the day, Dhaka Metropolis, the only team not to be folded on the opening day, ended on 211-7 against Rangpur at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Chittagong v Rajshahi
Rajshahi won the toss and made a good start to reach 100-1 thanks to a 63-run innings of Nazmul Hossain. But that remained the only half century in the innings while all other batsmen got out cheaply and eventually scored a total of 208.
Iftekhar, the destroyer in chief for hosts, received ample support from Mehedi Hasan Rana and Mohammad Saifuddin who got two wickets each.
In reply, Chittagong openers Tamim Iqbal and Nafees Iqbal were not out on 35 and seven respectively at stumps after they negotiated 14 overs.
Barisal v Sylhet
Barisal innings, which lasted for 55 overs, not only was without a personal half century but also without a fifty partnership.
Al-Amin was the highest scorer with 36 and he made 49-run fourth wicket partnership, the highest in the side’s 155-run innings.
Sylhet lost opener Sayem Alam for 11 but other opener Imtiaz Ahmed and one-down Zakir Hasan was not out on 25 and nine respectively.
Dhaka v Khulna
Despite the rain intervention for several times 13 wickets had fallen in Fatulla in 63.4 overs.
Khulna could survive only 39.4 overs and none of their players could score over 30. Imrul Kayes was the highest scorer with 27.
Masum returned with 8.4-4-11-4 while Ali Ahmed Manik and Mohammad Sharif got two wickets each.
In reply, Dhaka was on 49-3 at stumps. Opener Joyraz Sheikh was not out on 49.
Rangpur v Dhaka Metro
Dhaka Metro got off to a good start with a 41-run opening partnership before two half centurions Shamsur and Asif added 74-run in the second wicket but they lost few quick wickets to end the day on 217-7.
Shamsur and Asif scored 51 and 56 respectively.
