Bangladesh Bank will announce the agriculture and rural credit policy and programmes today for the current financial year 2013-14 with a disbursement target of Tk 14,595 crore.
The target is around 3.29 per cent higher than the target of Tk 14,130 crore for the just concluded FY 2012-13. BB governor Atiur Rahman will announce the policy at a press conference at the central bank headquarters in the city.
All the banks collectively disbursed Tk 14,667.49 crore, or 103.80 per cent, of the annual target of Tk 13,180 crore, in farm loans in the FY 2012-13.
A BB official told New Age on Sunday that the
new policy would set fresh rules and regulations to stimulate farm loan disbursement.
According to the new BB farm loan policy, the scheduled banks will have to disburse agricultural loans through the Tk 10 farmer’s account apart from exceptional cases, he said.
