The BBC placed Bangladeshi student Sanjida Islam Choya on its list of the world’s 100 most influential women for 2022 because of her work to stop child marriage.
The BBC says that Sanjida has stopped at least 50 child marriages in Bangladesh.
When she was in school, she saw a presentation that made her want to do something to stop child marriage.
Sanjida, who is now in university, is part of a group called Ghashforing. It is made up of her friends and teachers.
So far, the team has told the police about 50 cases of child marriage.
Other Asian women on the list are Fatima Amiri of Afghanistan, Aye Nyein Thu of Myanmar, Velmariri Bambari of Indonesia, Sirisha Bandla of India, Priyanka Chopra Jonas of India, Sandya Eknaligoda of Sri Lanka, Sneha Jawale of India,
Kimiko Hirata of Japan, Ayesha Malik of Pakistan, Nigar Marf of Iraq, and Milli of Thailand.
