Bangladesh Boxing Federation has agreed to a one-year deal with Ukrainian coach Gourenko Alexander, who had already started working with three boxers at the Bangladesh Olympic Association’s ongoing specialised training camp. Alexander, who is a regular boxing coach under the sports ministry of Ukraine, was confident of bringing success for Bangladesh at the upcoming Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
‘I observed the boxers in the last five or six days; they are technically and tactically good. If they will give their best in the coming days I am hopeful that I will bring a gold medal for [Bangladesh] from the Asian Games,’ Alexander said on Friday.
Alexander is working with Al Amin, Arif Hossain and Sur Krishna Chakma at the specialised training camp, but the Ukrainian wants more students to achieve success.
‘Not only those three boxers; I want to see more boxers to make a strong national team,’ said the coach, who will be paid $4000 per month by the BBF.
Al Amin was excited to be working with a foreign coach like Alexander.
‘I got appreciation from this coach when I performed in the AIBA Junior Boxing Championship in Kazakhstan last year,’ said Al Amin.
‘If we had that kind of coach in the past we would have brought better success from the international arena, and we have confidence that if we try our best we will definitely get success.’
