The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Allan Brown as the mind trainer for the Bangladesh national team to ensure their mental health amidst the hectic international schedules.
BCB’s cricket operations deputy manager Shahriar Nafees affirmed on Sunday that the Australian has started his stint with the Tigers, as they have started their training camp ahead of the forthcoming series against the touring Afghanistan set to start at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on June 14.
‘Allan has started working with us in person today. He will work in person for two weeks in his initial two phases,’ Nafees told the reporters on Sunday.
Nafees also said that Allan has been working with the team virtually before joining the team physically on Sunday.
‘He worked with us online in the meantime.’
While explaining the mind trainer’s job responsibilities, the former Bangladesh opener clarified that Allan would be assigned to bring out the best in the players, which would make him different from a typical sports psychologist.
‘His task is to extract the qualities of our players that they possess and to use them on the field. A sports psychologist usually deals with the personal affairs of a player, while Allan Brown would be keen to integrate a player’s skill with the team,’ Nafees concluded.
