Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan met the officials of the District Sports Associations in an exchange of views programme at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
Nazmul, who was accompanied by members of the ad-hoc committee, assured the officials of the DSA of every support in order to run cricket smoothly in their respective regions by agreeing to increase their annual grant, said a press release on Saturday.
‘Our dream is to spread the longer version of cricket through the district level which could significantly help in creating future Test cricketers in Bangladesh. We seek the co-operation of district sports organisers to achieve that,’ said Nazmul.
‘We will assist you (DSA) with grounds maintenance equipment and agree to back you but only on the condition that you will put that to good use and there will be vibrant competitions all over Bangladesh,’ Nazmul said.
‘We are working towards a future target where assistance from the BCB will not be automatic and rather, will depend on quality and performance of the players, teams and officials of that district,’ said Nazmul.
The BCB president informed the representatives of the different DSA’s
that at present there were no obstacles to initiating the board’s election process.
‘We will, however, require the direction of the court in regards |to the constitution under which the election would take place,’ said Nazmul.
