Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday confirmed the three-match one-day international series against Afghanistan in September ahead of England’s visit in October.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan confirmed the series in an impromptu press conference at his residence adding that three matches will be held at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium respectively on September 25, 28 and 30.
Nazmul said they arranged the series following a recommendation of some senior players.
Bangladesh were looking for an opportunity to help their side prepare against England, who will arrive here on September 30 for three ODIs and two Test matches.
‘Our senior players recommended the series. So we invited Afghanistan to play against us,’ said Nazmul.
This will be the first one-day international series for Bangladesh this year and also their first ever series against Afghanistan.
The Tigers last played an ODI in November 11, 2015 against Zimbabwe at home and played only Twenty-20s ever since.
Afghanistan will arrive in Dhaka on September 21.
