Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan said on Thursday that they have turned down an International Cricket Council proposal to play a tournament in Dubai before the upcoming World Cup. The ICC had invited the BCB to play the tournament, featuring its associate members who have qualified for the tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 10 to 24.‘Yesterday [Wednesday] we informed the ICC that we cannot play the tournament as we need to give our players some break before the World Cup,’ he said.
The BCB president added that they have turned down a similar invitation from Zimbabwe.
Nazmul said that the BCB has a plan to send the Tigers to Australia early to help them adapt to the conditions.
‘We will arrange some matches at our own expenses. It will help our players to prepare for the World Cup,’ he said.
