All-rounder Sakib al Hasan admitted that he made a mistake by leaving the dressing room during the recent one-day international against India only to be involved in a scuffle with a spectator. Sakib reportedly beat up a spectator, who had allegedly made a bad gesture towards his wife. His action did not go well with the BCB officials and the all-rounder was called for a hearing on Sunday.
‘I was not aware that leaving the dressing room was against the rule,’ Sakib told reporters at the SBNS. ‘So that is a fault of mine.’
BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said Sakib had no prior information about the incident and left the dressing room only to meet his family.
‘He admitted that he did not take any permission from the BCB. We will now send the matter to the disciplinary committee for taking appropriate action,’ he said.
Police arrested a boy named Rahid Rahman after Sakib had filed a case against him and three others unnamed persons a day after the incident.
Rahid, the son of a businessman, however, was released on bail later.
Sakib said he will not withdraw the case and law will take its own course.
