The Bangladesh Cricket Board will send a letter to the Anti-Corruption Tribunal soon asking it to expedite the full verdict of the Bangladesh Premier League’s match-fixing trial, BCB president Nazmul Hasan said on Wednesday Nazmul said the BCB is under pressure from the International Cricket Council for receiving the full verdict after the tribunal had acquitted six accused in February.
‘I am worried about the delay,’ Nazmul Hasan told reporters while inaugurating the Women’s Cricket League at Dhanmondi.
‘The ICC asked me at the last meeting why it is taking so much time. About 20 days ago I asked them [tribunal] about the verdict. They said it will be done in two to three weeks.
‘I don’t see any signs of it now. I will wait until May 30 and then give them a letter,’ he said.
The Anti-Corruption Tribunal recently said that they are unlikely to
deliver a full verdict on the BPL’s match-fixing trial by May as they are yet to complete the hearing.
The Tribunal on February 26 acquitted six players and officials of match-fixing related offences but did not announce any punishment for the three players including former national captain Mohammad Ashraful, who had pleaded guilty.
