The Bangladesh Cricket Board will not allow national cricketers Elias Sunny and Nadif Chowdhury to play in the domestic cricket unless they give a satisfactory explanation about their participation of a match in United States, officials said on Wednesday. The BCB said it will serve Sunny and Nadif a show-cause notice for playing in US, alongside banned former national captain Mohammad Ashraful, who played without taking prior permission from them.
Sunny, Nadif, former national pacer Tapash Baisya and former under-19 player Shaker Ahmed participated in ‘Diversity Cup’, a Twenty20 cricket tournament in America’s Michigan state earlier this month.
Sunny and Nadif are currently under BCB’s first-class payroll while Tapash and Shaker are also registered players with the BCB.
‘We will show-cause both Sunny and Nadif for playing without permission of BCB,’ BCB’S media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters.
‘The matter will be referred to disciplinary committee.’
Any cricketers registered with the BCB, whether he is in payroll or not, must obtain a NOC to play in abroad.
Players are also not supposed to play in any tournament involving a banned player like Ashraful, who is not eligible to participate in any official tournament until August 13 of next year.
