Bangladesh Chhatra League activists beat up one of their classmates, who is also an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist, on Chittagong University campus on Monday.
The injured was identified as Ariful Islam, a third year student of economics department and also a resident of Alaol hall. Witnesses said the victim was going to attend the class and on his way to the faculty, he was locked into an argument with his classmate and also a BCL activist, Md Monsur Alam.
At one stage they both started fighting and Monsur’s fellow men of BCL beat Ariful severely.
Ariful was taken to university medical center and later he was moved to a private hospital as his condition deteriorated.
The CU assistant proctor, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, said, ‘Steps will be taken against the accused persons after getting official complaint.’
