Delivery of the verdict in the case of killings in a rebellion in the border force headquarters in Dhaka in 2009 has been postponed, official sources said on Tuesday night.
Additional metropolitan sessions court judge-III Md Akhtaruzaman was scheduled to deliver the verdict today in the case against 846 accused.‘The court will set a fresh date later on,’ public prosecutor Musharraf Hossain Kajol told New Age.
On October 20, the court had set the date on the completion of the final arguments by the prosecution and the defence counsels.
On September 2, the court wrapped up recording of the depositions of prosecution witnesses which saw 654 out of 1,345 prosecution witnesses, mostly BGB soldiers and army officers, testify against the accused.
A total of 24 defence witnesses, including accused Selim Reza, 35, the then sepoy (clerk assistant) of the BDR, also gave depositions.
The bloody rebellion, which broke out two months after the Awami League-led government had assumed office, killed 75 people, including 57 army officers deputed in the paramilitary force.
